I love Christmas cake. I really do. I love the spice and all the fruit that is packed into slice. I love the sweetness of the icing and marzipan that just marries with the fruit.

The Lincolnshire Show has celebrated its 130th year on the 18th and 19th June. The show is about celebrating all the great things about Lincolnshire and one of those is food.

The showground dedicates a large area to locally produced food and one of the biggest companies there this year was Lincolnshire Co-operative. They are owned by their members in Lincolnshire and Newark and have been for over 150 years. Read the rest of this entry
At this years Lincolnshire Show food and drink producers from all over the county gathered in Lincoln to showcase their locally grown and locally made produce.
The Show which took place at the Lincolnshire Show ground on the 18th and 19th June attracted visitors from all over the county. This year was the 130th Show and over the years the event has evolved into a great day out for families, schools and people from the county, who want to celebrate all that’s great about Lincolnshire in a fun and educational environment.
The Show’s roots will always be in agriculture, but now shopping, delicious food, attractions and rides all have a place over this two day event.
One of the many food and drink exhibitors was Poachers Brewery from North Hykeham just outside of Lincoln. The micro brewery is owned by George Batterbee who has been making local bitters and ales for over 14 years. Read the rest of this entry
When it comes to convince food I am split. On one hand I like the idea of quick and easy meals for those lazy days. But on the other hand I love cooking and I know how to cook and like to use the kitchen as my space to de-stress after a long day at work.
Is a packet sauce classed as a convenience food? Or does it help make the cooking process a little simpler? I think it is a mixture of both and having tried some gluten free recipe mixes from Thornelys I will be keeping a couple of these is my kitchen cupboards because they are not only quick and easy to use, but they are packed full of flavour.
